Strategy

In alliance with Menar’s investment strategy, our capital allocation and deployment of entrepreneurial skills focus on creating long-term value in our businesses for the benefit of all stakeholders. Sustainable return on investments forms the basis of relationships with all our partners. We typically invest in companies which have clear business models, strong position in value chain, good margins and strong prospects for cash generation.

5 Management Principles

  1. Reinvesting earnings into the company:

This principle enables us to take advantage of investment opportunities and places us in a position to self-finance our investments. It also ensures agility and decisiveness in decision-making.

  2. Work with reliable partners:

We seek out partners that can bring skills and experience to the business. All our partners share our values and entrepreneurial spirit and have the highest levels of integrity and credibility.

  3. Diversification:

As a private investment company, we invest in multiple commodities that are integral to driving economic development and sustaining industrialisation.

  4. Clear and concise communication strategy:

We tailor strategy-specific messages linked to our key objective to create tools that help communities and our employees connect their day-to-day efforts with the aspiration of the company.

  5. Hands-on leadership:

Providing hands-on, visible felt leadership forms an integral part of our management strategy. Having a hands-on approach has aided us in developing a thorough understanding of the major shifts in our business and market forces.

Transformation

Our hands-on approach has allowed us to meaningfully implement Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) at the management level, particularly at mines that we have acquired, which were lacking previously in this regard. Our transformation initiatives include creating career and business opportunities for historically disadvantaged individuals, including women and the youth. Our procurement policy is tailored towards empowering local businesses closer to mining operations.
