Journalism students and media professionals once again gained new insights into the world of mining by hearing from industry experts about the many intricacies of the mining sector. This follows a two year break owing to COVID-19. The trainees also visited an active mining operation.

Twenty trainees, who had been carefully selected from over 100 applications, attended an intensive media training workshop in Sandton, Johannesburg where they heard from a wide spectrum of speakers about different aspects of the mining sector. Menar Academy brought together the mining experts and senior journalists to train for mining journalism.

Menar concluded a successful second instalment of the Mining Journalism Training program on the 22nd of October 2018, at the Turbine Hall in Johannesburg with a site visit to an operating mine, Phalanndwa Colliery in Delmas, which was scheduled for the 23rd of October 2018.
